Sharon Mansur (she/her) is a Lebanese American, rural Minnesota based contemporary experimental dance and interdisciplinary artist, director, educator, curator, mover and shaker. She dwells and makes art on Dakota land in Mni Sota Makoce. Sharon’s creative practice and research integrates improvisational techniques, somatic practices, and interdisciplinary collaborative approaches. She has a keen interest in site responsive art, weaving the visual and visceral, body and space, internal and external landscapes. She is also committed to dance as a transformational and healing catalyst for individuals and communities. She was honored to have taught and performed at the 2018 International Dance Day Festival Lebanon (IDDFL) at the Lebanese American University in Byblos.
Sharon's performance/installation projects and dance films have been presented throughout the United States and abroad. She was a 2018-2019 McKnight Dancer Fellow, the first guest curator at the 2022 Frozen River Film Festival, a 2022 Springboard for the Arts Creative Economy Fellow, and has also received support from Forecast Public Art, Minnesota State Arts Board, Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, and recent residencies at Lanesboro Arts and The YES! House. Sharon is currently an adjunct faculty at Winona State University and a therapeutic bodyworker.
My creative practice is rooted in tender and deeply cherished relationships with other artists and creative folx. I offer audiences immersive art experiences, and they are invited to dive deep and make themselves at home. I make art because that is the essential way in which I grapple with inherent mysteries and ambiguities in life.
I am passionate about resilient and evolving ways to share and support art in my communities.
