Lebanon, USA
Lebanon, USA is a road trip and photography project by Lebanese photographer Fadi BouKaram. Fadi and Sharon first met online when Sharon discovered his Lebanon, USA travel blog and asked if she could incorporate several of his striking images into her 2017 Dreaming Under a Cedar Tree installation at Public Launch in Winona, Minnesota. They maintained contact over the next year and met in person when Sharon traveled to Lebanon for the first time to participate in the International Dance Day Festival in 2018.
Then Sharon partnered with with the Saint Mary's University Page Series to host a residency with Fadi in Winona during fall 2018 while he was on his second U.S. road trip. Fadi's photographs were featured at both Public Launch and at SMU, and he spoke about his experiences traveling and documenting the 47 rural towns named Lebanon across America. While Fadi was in Winona additional community events included: a community meal during his Public Launch exhibition, street photography workshops, a lecture at the Winona County History Center, an artist talk with Sharon, and an exhibition reception at SMU's Page Theatre.
