Showcasing Arab and SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) artists and filmmakers,
this set of short films challenges documentary form as well as common narratives/images of immigration and displacement.
Sharon Mansur is a fiscal year 2023 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Identify Yourself: Exploring Personal Narrative Through Art Workshop
Identify Yourself is an exploration of cultural heritage and personal identity led by Winona-based artist Sharon Mansur. Drawing from Mansur’s autobiographical performance work Dreaming Under a Cedar Tree, this interactive workshop invites you to explore childhood memories and imagery, ancestral countries of origin, and personal identity through creative writing, visual art, and movement.
